I have been exactly where you are!
Hey, I'm Amber and I started out JUST.LIKE.YOU! Researching ALL THE THINGS. I had fully immersed myself in the online world of breastfeeding mentors and birth center midwives. I was on the ball and oh so prepared. Until I wasn't.
When preterm labor threw me for a loop, and turned me into a NICU mom, I was unwell. I had to heal my body (from the cesarean birth), my mind (from my preterm birth), and my sense of self (from my perceived failure).
When I got pregnant again, I knew I needed more birth support.
- One, for a hopeful VBAC (Vaginal Birth after Cesarean).
- Two, for my own mental well being. I NEEDED someone to help me through the emotional side of things, as well as the informational.
I hired a doula team, recommended by my hospital birth midwife group. I knew immediately that this was the best decision for me, my new baby, and my growing family. We hired the same doula back almost as soon as I peed on that pregnancy test for my third. I'm not even joking. We had to have her with us, she was part of the family.
When I found out that she and her partner were DONA certified educators, I couldn't wait to take their training. The doula life called to me.
So here we are. I am thrilled to help new families feel the same unwavering support that I felt in my labors and births. I hope to be that grounding force in the room when my laboring mamas need someone to stand firm with them that THIS IS NORMAL and it will pass.

How Can a Doula Help You?
We all want the same thing. A healthy baby at the end of it all. Right? Yes, of course. But, sometimes we need more. Sometimes we need to be mothered and taken care of by someone outside of our circle. Sometimes we need to be healed from a previous traumatic birth experience. Sometimes we just need a friend to text anytime we feel like pregnancy is a little overwhelming at that moment.
If you are unsure of what it is that you want, a doula can help you figure that out. I will make sure you have as much information about your options as you can comfortably take in. If we don't know our options, how are we to know what we really want?
"Connecting with Amber for my initial visit was honestly the first time I felt at ease and actually excited about my delivery."
I strive to support you and your partner both physically and emotionally. My goal is to help you have the birth you envision by relying on evidence based coping techniques.
I hope to assist you in the postpartum period to help start your family on the right footing for a successful transition into parenting your new baby.
I'm looking forward to supporting local families as they bring their new babies into the world.
